Why Are Dictations Not Going To ShadowScribe For Transcription

This article will explain some common causes for dictations to go to transcription within the standard editor rather than going to the ShadowScribe editor.

The dictation source is incompatible with ShadowScribe
  • The Olympus DS-2400 model is not supported.
  • When using a voice recorder, only SP is supported. LP is not supported.

The clinician is not configured for ShadoScribe for the Audio Source
  • In "InCommand > Client Maintenance > User Maintenance > Manage ShadowScribe Profiles" make sure that the method of dictation is configured for the user.
  • Valid methods of dictation are InTouch, Olympus or Phillips voice recorder, and WAV dictation. Note that there are restrictions for voice recorders outlined above.
  • Set the method of dictation to "Active"

The document is not configured for ShadowScribe for the User
  • In "InCommand > Client Maintenance > Document Types > Edit ShadowScribe Users for {doctype}" make sure that the clinician is listed in the box on the left.
  • In the same InCommand location, make sure the checkbox for "Enable selected document for ShadowScribe" has a check in it.
